Our Model of Care

More Support. More Collaboration. More Healing.

The Importance of a Treatment Team in Trauma Care

Our commitment to excellence in Client Care, Education, and Clinical Oversight

At Trauma & Therapy Center of Tennessee, we believe trauma therapy should never be done in isolation—for clients or clinicians. That’s why our teaching practice model is built around one core promise:

You get more support here—not less.

When you work with us, you’re not just meeting with one therapist in a vacuum. You’re stepping into a circle of care that includes licensed experts, advanced trauma training, and a highly collaborative team. That means more eyes, more wisdom, and more alignment to help you feel better, faster.

Why a Teaching Practice = More Value for You

There’s a misconception that working with a student or pre-licensed clinician means “settling” for less.
We’re here to tell you… That couldn’t be further from the truth.

As a teaching practice, every clinician is surrounded by licensed, experienced professionals who meet weekly to review cases, consult, and grow together. Our clients often get the benefit of:

In other words, you get boutique-quality trauma care—with more eyes, more insight, and more accessibility.

What Makes Us Different? A LOT.

We don’t believe in doing the bare minimum. Here’s what you get when you work with our team:

  • Weekly 90-minute treatment team meetings.

  • Monthly specialty consult groups for EMDR, Brainspotting, ART, LENS, Complex Trauma, and Trauma-Informed Hypnosis

  • Quarterly session tape reviews by the Clinical Director and Clinical Supervisors to ensure quality care (only with written permission from the client!)

  • All-team collaborative admin days every Friday (yes—your clinician is supported behind the scenes, too!)

  • Ongoing advanced trauma training on the most trusted, cutting-edge trauma treatments.

  • Real-time supervision and mentoring for new clinicians, ensuring you never feel like an afterthought.

  • Lower caseloads for full-time clinicians, so you get a focused, present therapist—not a burned-out one.

  • Generous time-off culture to support provider wellbeing (which means better care for you).

A Clear Path to Healing—At Any Level of Care

We work with interns, residents, provisionally licensed, and fully licensed clinicians. All are trained in trauma-informed care and participate in a rigorous development process.

Here's what that means for you:

  • Budget-friendly rates with high oversight from our Site Supervisor, Clinical Director + access to cutting-edge trauma training and development.

  • Passionate emerging therapists with 2–4 years of experience and specialized training. High levels of oversight with ongoing, regularly occurring Clinical Supervision.

  • Mid-tier rate, 3–5+ years experience, tested and supervised, trauma-focused care with less frequent Clinicial Supervision.

  • Advanced clinicians, highest level of experience, ideal for complex trauma work, or serving as co-treating trauma therapists within our team.

Pro Tip

Many clients start with an Intern or resident to save money while still receiving expert care—and often continue with that provider long-term. We also offer counseling packages for Residents, Associates, and Fully Licensed Therapists. Counseling Packages allow you to save up to 20% off our published rates, have no expiration date, and can be used by all members of a household.

Why the Team Model Works

Healing from trauma takes more than a single session or a solo therapist. It takes:

  • A team that talks to each other

  • A model that puts your progress front and center

  • Ongoing consultation to ensure you’re getting the best, most up-to-date care

Every clinician here has access to senior support, expert consultation, and shared learning, which means they’re never stuck guessing what might help you most. That’s the power of a teaching practice. We honor your investment in healing by providing unmatched clinical support, training, and oversight at the highest level.

We Train the Therapists of Tomorrow—So You Heal Better Today

Our interns and residents don’t just show up. They go through:

  • A competitive multi-step interview process

  • 100+ hours of direct observation with experienced trauma therapists

  • Ongoing supervision, training, and emergency support

  • Optional advanced trauma training in EMDR, Brainspotting, Trauma-Informed Hypnosis, Gottman, and more

In fact, 85% of our interns go on to become full-time therapists here.
And 90% of their clients stay with them throughout their training and beyond.

That’s because our clients know something you’re about to discover:
When you’re surrounded by a team that truly cares, healing happens faster—and deeper.
