“You deserve to feel safe, to be seen and heard. Sometimes we become disconnected from ourselves and the world around us, leaving us feeling surrounded by overwhelming darkness. This is when we can choose to ask for help, as difficult as that may be. Therapy is a collaborative process that allows you to reconnect with yourself in a healthy and meaningful way and improve your quality of life. You are stronger than you think you are.”

Biography:
If you’re looking for a counselor who brings both fierce compassion and grounded care, you’ll want to meet Alex.
Before entering the world of mental health, Alex Hartley served as a healthcare specialist and Army medic in one of the most intense medical environments in the world—Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. There, she treated over 5,000 patients, trained soldiers, and established herself as a trusted team member. But beyond the numbers lies her heart: a deep, unshakable commitment to helping people feel safe, seen, and whole again—especially those who’ve spent years putting others first.
Today, Alex is completing her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Austin Peay State University and brings a rare blend of tactical skill, emotional depth, and trauma-informed care to every session. She has firsthand insight into what it means to show up under pressure, hold space for complex emotions, and walk with people who carry invisible wounds.
Alex works with individuals who feel lost in their own lives—people who are tired of being “the strong one” and ready to finally be supported. Whether you’re a veteran, a first responder, or someone silently battling the aftermath of trauma, Alex is passionate about helping you reconnect with yourself and rediscover your strength.
Her approach is warm, genuine, and direct. She offers an emotionally safe space for you to unpack hard things—grief, numbness, overwhelm, or the quiet ache of not feeling like yourself anymore. With Alex, therapy is a partnership rooted in trust, integrity, and the belief that healing is possible.
Who Alex Works Best With:
Veterans and First Responders seeking support from someone who truly “gets it”
Adults feeling overwhelmed, emotionally shut down, or lost in transition
Individuals navigating PTSD, anxiety, shame, or guilt from past trauma
Clients looking for a trauma therapist in Tennessee who combines structure, empathy, and real-world experience
Alex believes healing happens when you feel safe enough to stop performing and start feeling. Whether that means finding your voice, reclaiming your peace, or learning to feel again, she’s here to help guide you there.
Outside the Therapy Room:
Alex is an animal lover and long-time rescue volunteer. She’s a proud fur mom to Murphy (a black lab) and three quirky cats—all of whom have names starting with “M.” In her downtime, she enjoys gardening, caring for rescue animals, and reminiscing on her past life as a competitive figure skater.
Known as “The Guardian” on the Myers-Briggs (ESTJ) and a Type 1 “Reformer” on the Enneagram, Alex brings consistency, drive, and integrity to everything she does—including the therapy space.
